Mayor's Parting Shot
Friday, 04 June 2010 10:53

Retiring Mayor of Mablethorpe, Sutton-on-Sea and Trusthorpe, Helen Parkhurst has made sure that a swimming pool for the area remained high on the agenda for East Lindsey District Council.  At the ELDC Civic Dinner for invited guests from all over the region - each Mayor or Chairman does the same during their year, which is funded by the Mayor/Chairman herself/himself - Helen took her Civic guests on a tour of our area during the Bathing Beauties Festival to promote our neck of the woods with great success.

Towards the end of the evening and after the speeches someone on Helen's table had the idea of removing the table number and replacing it with a message for all the Civics to see...so of course she added "Mablethorpe wants a swimming pool!" It went down really well (many people took pics) and the Head of Lincoln County Coucil came over to see what was going on. They chatted for a while about the possibility of a pool. Other members said, "Save Louth Town Hall" and "Save 1 Market Street Spilsby" - the latter currently making headlines in local newspapers.
