Michael Kheng, director of the Kurnia Group - a firm that provides consultancy and training to businesses in the alcohol and entertainment industry - is one of five finalists in the Professional Trainer Of The Year category of this year's National Industry Training Awards (NITAs).
The annual awards are the British Institute of Innkeeping's (BII) way of recognising excellent training in the industry and Michael has beaten off competition from hundreds of entrants to make the shortlist.
Kurnia Group owns and operates Kai's Bar (in Spanish City), The Louth Hotel and The Book in Hand in Mablethorpe as well as establishments in Louth.
The company delivers qualifications accredited by the British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding Body (BIIAB) and offers bespoke training to licensees looking to develop and maintain a successful business.
Michael, who lives in Louth, made a final push for the award in a 40-minute interview with industry trainers in Birmingham, followed by a presentation to showcase the commitment and expertise needed to impress the judges.
Michael said he was delighted to have made the final five, and praised the progress his company have made in becoming an industry force.
My Mablethorpe wishes Michael every success in the finals and will let visitors know how he gets on.
