Hello Everyone, Greetings from Australia...

re 2 Malvern Road, Mablethorpe, 1947 to 1957.
Is the house there today the same house that was there 1947 to 1957 or has the site been redeveloped ?

Aunty ran it as a boarding house during the dates above with up to 3 lodgers plus her. She was an elderly widow named Annie Smith.

Apparently in 1947 some flooding occurred and she filed an insurance claim.

Any help with the house or knowledge of Annie would be appreciated.

I have lived in Mablethorpe for 11 years so I know a few people who I can make enquiries with. Please give me a week or two, as I have a few family matters to deal with first.

no 2 malvern road mablethorpe is now a bungalow, so the fourtys boarding house must have been demolished,probably after the floods early fiftys. cannot tell you any more info as we have only lived in mablethorpe for 12 years or so.

thanks Mal and Pam, here's hoping for an age to the current property. I am thinking that Aunt's house maybe a prior build on 2 Malvern??

I called in at Mablethorpe Library yesterday and someone checked through the index cards on file but no luck there.
I will try elsewhere and see what I can come up with,

Oh thanks Pam,I really didn't know what to do so I have contacted the current owners.

Good move, I have sent an e-mail to the Mablethorpe Leader Letter Page and asked for any information about your Aunt and her B & B. The Editor sent a reply asking if it was ok to print my e-mail address so I said that would be fine. It is on sale on Wednesday so let's see what happens. I'll let you know if there is any response..

No response yet to my letter in the Leader I'm afraid but I will give an update if I hear anything. Hope you have more luck with the people who now live at the address.
