[img/] The Mangers on the wall at the Cenitaph planted up by volunteers from Mablethorpe in Bloom are having plants stolen on a daily basis. I would ask all residents that appreciate the efforts of these volunteers to help us by keeping an eye open for the mindless light fingered ignorant indiividuals that steal the plants there or anywhere else around town..

if i hear anything i'll let you know, how low can people get, some things are sacred it's on a par with robbing churches, you just don't do it.

Thanks for your comments, I hope anyone that reads this will keep their eyes and ears open. The same thing happened last year too and it is very frustrating, just total contempt for our efforts. It is the same attitude as dropping litter and dog fouling, just a lack of respect for themselves and others.

I'll keep my ears and eyes open too. What lo-lifes.

it really is a shame, after the flowers in bloom group have gone to so much trouble
they have been in spanish city doing their stuff, and it really has improved the square
i even have a flower tub outside my shop now.

Thanks for your comments Steve and good for you with your Flower Tub, I hope you all end up with at least one Tub or Basket, the more the merrier. You could even enter the In Bloom competition for "Best Business Floral Display", the forms are available from Tourist Information Office!
A couple of plants are missing from one of the blue Planters on the railing at the top of Victoria Road, where next? Don't the Planters look nice in Seacroft Road? The Working Party have been busy there and on the Sea Front by Queen's Park where the four beds are in front of the Beach Huts.All being well there will be a nice surprise on the Pullover very soon. Watch out for press releases.

hi Pam, can anyone plant up a tub or box and put it somewhere?

Hi there, Do you have a business premises, if so you can do your own tubs etc., or In Bloom can loan you one or more for a donation. It wouldn't be possible to put a tub or planter just anywhere in the town but if you let me know what you have in mind I can bring it up at the next Meeting at the Boatshed on Tuesday 15th June at 7:30pm. Anyone who would like to help please come along.
There are competitions for attractive gardens or yards with tubs etc if you live in Mablethorpe.

The "In Bloomers" are Chris and myself, still more to be done but Chris has done most of it including the choice of plants etc. We got so annoyed about the car but it wasn't there this week-end. It isn't the pots etc. stopping them as they have put a car there after I spread the pots out so maybe they haven't anything to sell! Two Silver Birch Trees have been snapped in half in two of the pots in Quebec Road. I would like to think it was done by Tourists but it is probably some local waste of space that unfortunately we have to put up with.
E.J. The judges will be passing your way from Skegness so would get to see your pot if you site it where you suggested, so thanks for your suggestion..

Plants are still being either pulled up stolen in several areas around town. There should be a Mermaid carving on display at the Pullover by the end of the month, so keep watch for that, it will be securely fixed so hopefully that won't be pinched!

The chainsaw carving of a Mermaid on a Dolphin was delivered to In Bloom at the Pullover on Wednesday, During the night, some evil so and so broke the fin off the carving and threw it in among the shrubs. The artist had to be called out to try to repair it. Then last night some low life tried to snap it and push it over so the Police are to investigate yet again. Look North are coming to see Val Corkell tomorrow afternoon to report on the Mermaid so let's hope that there is still something there to report on!
