just wasted a week for the enviromental department to respond to a question i have asked and as usual have received the usual lack of response. it was not a hard question one that department should know the answer to as it's legislation relevant to them yet i was fobbed off with the usual we wil get back to you which they havent.
unfortunately i have previous experience with them. so i know how bad the service they provide is and took my self off to the citizens advice. the lady there found the relevant legislation in under 5 mins
it's about time the axe fell on manby and get rid of those not prepared or unable to do the job we pay them for

yes I had a similar no response recently----rang and asked for advive on grants for security for small businesses----help with shutters etc----this funding does exist and other councils are providing these grants-----they had no knowledge of anything to do with this so said they would find out and ring me back-----3 weeks later ---guess what, no response----so now I have to chase them up if I wish to pursue this------perhalp Ill renege on the nexy installment of my business rates which they are so eager to collect without delay!!! 3rd rate, MOST DEFINITELY

What will it be like when they make all the cutbacks they are talking about. Half the time now they never replace people when they leave so you never know who to talk to.

the cut backs if they happen will be used as another excuse to keep in their armoury, to use when they try to get out of doing their job that they are paid for.
To be fair i can not criticise all the various departments in the council, but i do have experience of dealing with the environmental and anti- social teams and they provide an appalling service that tends to start by ignoring phone calls when that fails they trot out the old nothing to do with us sorry
in fact they are so bad ill complain to the chief executive

yes they are a joke, best contact is the clerk to the council,he seams to be able to get depts motivated. has anyone noticed the difference in domestic rate bills and comercial ones.
well comercial bills are headed demands yes and if a couple own a business,each person will get a demand in their name.I could not believe this so asked the question, the answer was that they are working within government their guidelines.

Have had experiences of getting nowhere when contacting E.L.D.C. However I have also had some good responses. I would never wait longer than a few days if they didn't get back to me.
I attended a Meeting tonight where Nigel Howells, Chief Exec. Of E.L.D.C. and Alec Wood, the Lincs. Asst. Chief Constable.were both guests. This was organised through the Neighbourhood Police and Neighbourhood Management Forum. We were able to put questions to them both and would suggest that attending these Meetings gives everyone a platform to raise complaints and suggestions for improvements.

hi pam As i understood it the questions are vetted before they are put forward so they can answer them, which is a big difference and easier ride for them. Then someone turning up at a meeting and asking the question, and not giving them time to cobble an excuse together. Or sideline any awkward questions beforehand.
If that is the case, why should anyone bother turning up at a meeting
Don't get me wrong pam i think your group is great, and your all getting things done for everyones benifit.
But i'd hate to see your group ending up as pointless as the police panel,or whatever name they go by now. Where the police take no notice of anything the panel says, and just carry on doing what they like. All the public is invited along for. Is so they can tick their P R boxes (I'VE BEEN TO THEIR MEETINGS.)

Hi Steve, I appreciate your comments but the questions I sumitted were both chosen and I was able to respond as were the other questioners. Yes I agree I prefer spontaneous Q &A but myself and others asked plenty off the cuff ones and we are organising a further Meeting with Nigel Howells. Yes of course they need to tick the boxes on surveys but we questioned the numerous consultations and similar Groups that are set up and then are unproductive. If I didn't attend the Police and Neighbourhood Panels regularly, I would assume that nothing ever gets done. I am very direct and very critical in the comments I make and I do follow them up and will keep on doing so until I am satisfied that some action is taken.Action may be slow but at least we keep things in the public arena and keep prodding the powers that be. These Meetings also encourage youth projects and clubs and our attendance is purely voluntary with no business to defend or promote.

I'm amazed that your still with the police panel you really do dig your heels in Pam your certainly no quitter. And i know how direct you can be but however direct you or the panel are. I cant ever see Mablethorpe get the policing it deserves.
The only way that will happen is if the law is changed, so that we can sack chief constables. If their officers don't do the job they are paid for.Until then we will be left with the appalling service we have now, in my opinion the crime level in mablethorpe gets worse every year. And i have not seen any improvements.

And i can't see the point in having talented people like you and others volunteering your time to have the police waste it. We will end up losing you.
This town needs a few success story's to get people motivated. In my opinion people like you and the indomitable val corkhill and the other volunteers are needed where you can make the most difference, volunteers are the lifeblood of this town and should not be wasted.

I think that more Q and A meetings with nigel howells are a good idea they could be productive for the town,
(i personally don't have a problem with east lindsey in general they are no better or worse than i suppose any other council in the country. They just have some departments who view the taxpayers as a nuisance, and go out of their way to be as unhelpful as they can be. Until you go away,and don't bother them any more.)

But i don't think they should know the questions they are to be asked beforehand they are very well paid. So i don't think it's unreasonable to expect them to have at least a basic understanding of the problems and needs of a town they will be asked questions about. and be able to answer spontaneously

Yes Steve, I am still with the police panel along with Val and Margaret C, and the rest of the members.The number of police in Mabo isn't enough but until the funding is increased I can't see there being any extra. I have always asked for written details of how many parking tickets, speeding tickets,, using mobile phones while driving tickets, are given out and we get the figures from them monthly. We are also informed of arrests and A.S.B.O. and drug searches. The Beat Constable Jon Jones does send a list to the Press but they don't seem interested in printing them. I am going to contact both local papers and query this.So I honestly don't feel that they are wasting my time.I do however get frustrated when I know of instances where some families seem to get away with bad behavior as you well know from the past but I have raised this recently and will do so again. As for E.L.D.C. you are right in what you say .Anyway, if I didn't keep trying to challenge things that I think are wrong or unfair then I'd be more frustrated and bonkers than I already am!!!.
