Sometimes I scare myself the things I can remember from my childhood.
The "Lizzie Dripping" books written by childrens author Helen Creswell were turned into TV programmes by the BBC as part of the "Jackanory playhouse" series in the early to mid 70's. Starring Tina Heath future Blue Peter presenter in the title role.
One such story was "Lizzie Dripping by the sea" It was filmed in Mablethorpe in either '74 or '75. I have no idea what the story was about now. But filming locations were on the beach (of course) outside the "bucket and spade shop" on the Queens Park Pullover and on Tennyson road I think. the imdb.com website lists the children of the Leicester Childrens home as extras so perhaps they were filming up there too...
