Wilst researching something else entirely I came across this discussion on a forum about air raids on Mablethorpe in WW2. I thought it too good to ignore

I heard there were two planes downed in the sand dunes near the current cinema - 1 was ours and 1 was German. The crews all survived and the Germans were taken to Butlins in Skegness.

No idea if it is true or not.

I also understand the Grayscroft bus parking area was a former cinema that was destroyed during the war.

I had no idea there was so much activity here.

I seem to remember hearing that about the Grayscroft Bus parking area from my Dad many years ago. Alas he's no around to ask anymore.
Isn't it great when you discover stuff that you didn't know...

It's quite spooky too because I got interested in the aircraft issue due to something I saw when I was very little. we were all out for a family walk in about 1977ish when I was about 5 but maybe older (before 1980 though). I looked back at the sand dunes from Quebec Rd (near long Acre where we lived) and 'saw' a man standing on the dunes in aviator's gear and the tailplane of an aircraft sticking up. It wasn't really there, I just got the impression. I remember the moon shining very brightly.

I told my mum and many years later she told me about the 'planes - she'd found out from a local history fan at the local police station.

The Victoria Pavilion used to stand on the site. It was originally a home for Clements entertainers who gave shows on the beach during the day. It was converted into a cinema, probably in the early '30's when Clements retired. I can't find a name but I wouldn't be surprised if it was "the Victoria" This cinema was bombed in 1943.
