Mablethorpe Town Centre Christmas Decorations. 1 Year, 5 Months ago

I hope that this years Christmas decorations are an improvement on last years.
After visiting Skegness, Louth, Boston, Spilsby and Alford, their displays were far superior to ours in Mablethorpe. I feel that this years display has to be better, or preferably, different . The illuminations are so outdated and seem like they must be Skegness or Louth's left overs from a few years ago.
There are some shops and businesses that do some lovely window displays but they are let down by the lack of effort of others.
I know that these are hard times but surely there is a minimum standard that we can expect?
How do the rest of you feel about this subject?

hi pam
For a lot of the businesses in mabo pam these are not hard times, but the end of the road and spending money on decorating shops just to be vandalised once night falls is not high on the priority list for businesses in mabo and surrounding area.
Winter wonderland in spanish city was very well intended, last night, but at the end of the evening the decs were removed by the volunteers, they couldn't leave them out they would have been wrecked pinched or both. it would be nice to have decorations out all over the celebration period in the town. But with no serious police presence in the area it's not going to happen.
Look what happens to the mablethorpe in bloom when it trys to brighten the town up.

Hi Steve,
I was mainly referring to the Town Council's obligations. Yes some businesses are near the end but I did mean window displays, even well placed tinsel is better than nothing or even some Holly. If you expect customers then a little effort goes a long way.Outdoor decorations would be a problem for the reasons you stated. There has to be a change of some kind!!!!

Having literally been housebound for weeks, I haven't seen the Town Xmas Decorations so please can I have some comments, good or bad. I also have not seen Louth, Boston, Skegness, Alford or Spisby's Decorations. Please enlighten me!!
I know the Co-op will have a good display, but they are only seen inside the Store.

I took a ride through Mabo yesterday and I asked the Taxi driver what he thought of the Christmas decorations and his reply was that he thought they were poor.He did however say that the tree lights in Mabo were better than the ones in Sutton. I have not been to S-O-S so cannot comment, however I was not impressed with Mablethorpe's display. Hopefully there will be a radical change next year.

Pretty much the same lack of lights as usual due to lack of money. Some of them were hardly seasonal in theme. I'd rather they spent the money on people who need help though so it was all right.
The Christmas tree was very pretty.

Good comment and I would be more sympathetic if money was redirected to good causes, but I am not convinced that is the reason. I am sure the other local towns have financial restrictions, however they still manage to make their High Streets look Seasonal and very attractive and inviting to the potential Xmas shoppers. Yes, the illumination lights are not well matched but I daresay we will have to make do. I will reserve judgement on the Christmtas tree for the moment as I respect your opinion.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.
