Mablethorpe-history.info anyone? 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 5
You all know me. I'm the new guy who fills up the "Mablethorpe Memories" section with tales from Mablethorpes' history.
Well the whole history thing is truly fascinating. Why in my morning break at work I went from "malbertorp" and 4 salt pans in the Domesday book to finding references to Bronze age pottery dug up in the town...
Now this information is all over the place on the internet. I've got bookmarks on my iPad, my MacBook Air, and my iMac not to mention the things I find at lunch at work that email to myself at home (I know I'm not very organised...)
There is a lot of history out there about the town, more than I ever realised, and it really should be easily accessible in one place.
Currently for the princely sum of $1.99 about (1.40 GBP) I can register mablethorpe-history.info and then I can get around to building a website with the towns history in an easily understandable form. Perhaps I don't know what I'm letting myself in for. We'll see...
This is where I need some peoples help
Case in point being the bronze age pottery and details of an Anglo Saxon coin find. I can find out more about these finds if I join ARCHI and pay them the 25 quid membership.
OR
I could drop someone in Mablethorpe a line and say "any chance the next time you're in the library you could see if you could find out anything about a bronze age pottery find" I would do it myself but its a 5,000 mile round trip to the library...
Would anyone be interested in helping me out?

I'm next in Mabo at Xmas but would be happy to drop in then. I have never heard of these finds!

I read somewhere that Stain (as in Stain Lane) was a popular boys name in Scandinavia in the 9th Century but can't remember where I saw it.

I need to do some internet ferreting now!

Thats better than me I might not be there for 2 years...

Ferret around on the internet and let me know what you're looking for and what you find. No point in duplicating any efforts (Do we have a pm feature on here?)

Well I did the deed this morning and registered mablethorpe-history.info It's just parked on my own webspace at the moment, but I hope to get working on publishing some content soon. If anyone would like to help with that it would be great.
