You all know me. I'm the new guy who fills up the "Mablethorpe Memories" section with tales from Mablethorpes' history.
Well the whole history thing is truly fascinating. Why in my morning break at work I went from "malbertorp" and 4 salt pans in the Domesday book to finding references to Bronze age pottery dug up in the town...
Now this information is
all over the place on the internet. I've got bookmarks on my iPad, my MacBook Air, and my iMac not to mention the things I find at lunch at work that email to myself at home (I know I'm not very organised...)
There is
a lot of history out there about the town, more than I ever realised, and it really should be easily accessible in one place.
Currently for the princely sum of $1.99 about (1.40 GBP) I can register mablethorpe-history.info and then I can get around to building a website with the towns history in an easily understandable form. Perhaps I don't know what I'm letting myself in for. We'll see...
This is where I need some peoples help
Case in point being the bronze age pottery and details of an Anglo Saxon coin find. I can find out more about these finds if I join ARCHI and pay them the 25 quid membership.
OR
I could drop someone in Mablethorpe a line and say "any chance the next time you're in the library you could see if you could find out anything about a bronze age pottery find" I would do it myself but its a 5,000 mile round trip to the library...
Would anyone be interested in helping me out?
Ian
