I'd like to see this pier they are talking about being built, and the high street pedestrianised.
And more use made of the industrial estate, I.e the council giving outside company's financial incentives to encourage them to relocate here, in spite of the poor road network.
In return for employing the local population, in particular the teenagers who i think get a pretty raw deal around here.
Small children and the elderly are fairly well catered for but there is nothing much for the 16 to 25 age group.

I agree m8 and I think it’s at that age when most people lacking things to do can start to get into a bit of bother. It is at this age when people feel alienated by older people & older people can sometimes feel intimidated by small groups hanging around. We were all young once upon a time and have to remember what it was like. I remember hanging around outside the shops and in the park etc and the police used to move us on if they were too many of us but we had nowhere else to go. It’s exactly the same today but we are the older ones now.
Are they any groups or evening activities for this age range in Mablethorpe ?

Nice to know you can still remember being young, a lot of people round here conveniently forget.
There is very little for the youths round here, and i think if the council are serious about investing in mabo. Then it's a group that should not be ignored.
Maybe they could use the beach for a rave every now and then, get a few local bands in that would not cost the earth. Let them have a weekend of jigging about or whatever it is that they do. It would also do the businesses good, certainly you guys along the front.
I'm more than happy to wear earplugs for the weekend.

I'd like to see more younger people represented here on My Mablethorpe. Thus far they are only represented by Footbagger Ian, who I know pops by fairly regularly. Ideas for bringing them into the fold?

Well, we do have a Facebook page here. Have collected about 60 odd fans in last 6 months. We just need to get word out.

WE COULD DO WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS ACESS TO A LARGE GROUP OF LOCALS, JUST TOLD A FRIEND ABOUT THIS SITE. AND SHE'S GOING TO MENTION to her daughter about here. Sorry about caps, did not realise they were on and it will take me ages to retype so they will have to stay

Gah! Ive been rumbled!

Ill start pushing this site once in a while on my facebook page. I think the best way forward though would be getting something physical into peoples hands like a leaflet or a flyer promoting the site. Its one thing to have a cracking site that ranks well in google but in my opinion if you really want to rack up the visitors, a piece of paper with the web address on in someones hand is ten times, maybe twenty times more productive than any other method.

Ive seen a lot of stickers around town in shop windows advertising mablethorpe.info, perhaps thats another method to consider?

Stickers are already in the pipeline, as is an ad on the M&S News page in The Leader next week. I went round most of the shops / businesses with tri-fold leaflets last August offering free advertising for 6 months but it didn't bear much fruit at the time.

I never give up though and I've lots more planned, but am always open to suggestions!

yes the proposed pier-- the high street inland proposed pier -the swimming pool-pedestrianised high street- sea front development- large supermarket- shop front grants-
trafic warden- the list goes on, and are only a few of the proposed development for mablethorpe over the last ten years. hopefully the new town centre manager will move the town into this century and insist that the local council spends some of the invested funds on the town, and does less viability studies which cost a fortune. well Im now going to sutton in my car, that is if i can negotiate all the potholes, thankfully i will be able to park anywhere without bother from the law.

A very accurate summary of the last ten years, And no doubt they will have a feasibility study on the pot holes before they are filled. And they wonder why people in Mabo are so negative. The new town manager has a great hill to climb to change things around here. Hopefully she will do it.

I don’t think a pedestrianised high street would be good as it can have the opposite effect and drive people away effecting businesses etc. also if you look at the roads round Mablethorpe if you closed the high street down to cars how would they get round
