A NEW multi-use hall to benefit community groups and young people has just opened in Mablethorpe The facility, aptly named Hope House, was bought and renovated by the Mablethorpe Christian Fellowship who held an official opening ceremony on Saturday. Fellowship leader Nigel Collins said: We are really hoping this will be a useful facility for various community groups. It was a fantastic opening day and we've already had positive feedback and interest from local groups, including an art group and a film group. Hope House, situated in the former clinic on Victoria Road, includes a main hall, which can seat a hundred people and includes a video projector and a PA system, a café area, and a youth lounge with seating and a pool table. Activities on offer for the Friday night youth group held here also include computer games and table tennis. Chairman of the youth group council Jerry Coburn, 16, said: We started using the new hall around four weeks ago and our numbers seem to have gone up already. It's great that young people have a new place to socialise in the town. Much of the labour involved with the refurbishment of Hope House has been done by volunteers, keeping the cost of the project down to £30,000. Nigel said: Our other big project is to refurbish the first floor into a self contained holiday centre to sleep sixteen people, with three shower rooms, a kitchen and lounge. This we hope will provide a holiday home for groups such as children's hospices. We hope to start this in the next few weeks and will spend around £10,000 on materials. The fellowship is now looking to offer drop in sessions where visitors can pop in for a friendly chat. * For more details and opening times contact Nigel on 07775 844206 Cutting the ribbon - Judy and Nigel Collins of the Mablethorpe Christian Fellowships leadership team with Stuart Bell of Lincoln New Life Fellowship and his wife Irene.
